Fetish Evolution: Friends for life

Each year we're looking forward to the Easter weekend. And this is not because we love painting boiled eggs, but it is because of the annual Fetish Evolution Weekend in Essen. A weekend filled with latex, parties, sociability and most of all the special crowd that we meet there. Once again we had chosen for the hotel that had been completely hired by the organization for this event. This made it possible to show off your fetish outfit or admire others, any time of the day.
The programme has some fixed ingredients: a two-day Expo to increase your fetish wardrobe, an art exposition called Art Bizarre, a Fetish Diner, a Preparty, the Ball itself, a Playparty and a Fetish Brunch. So, a large choice to pick from. And even though we didn't attend to everything, we were never bored for one single second.
Our weekend started on Easter Saturday. Together with four more friends we put up in three adjacent rooms at the Bredeney hotel. It was a very sunny day and it took some hard, sweaty work to get a vast number of suitcases at the right place. The amount of luggage for this trip verges on the incredible. A different outfit for each party, something for in between the parties and a wide range of all kinds of fetish gear that we absolutely need to survive the weekend.
After these Trojan works it had became high time to relax on the restaurant's terrace and so we ordered our first glass of Sekt (of course, what else). Many would follow! Looking at everyone coming in is a really great pastime and after we had regained our strengths it was our turn to get our latex out of our suitcases, change into something suitable for the occasion and set off for the Expo.
The Expo had been spread out over several floors of the hotel. Latex, PVC, leather and SM gear as far as the eye could see. This was shopping time! We didn't buy anything though, but the Expo is a real experience. Not only the stands are worth while visiting, it's also very much worth while looking at the crowd around you. Most of them dressed in fetish outfit, and so we stared our eyes out. And if this wasn't enough, some shows could be attended to at a specially arranged stage. One of them Patrick Pech, a shibari artist who showed his sophisticated bondage skills at a dizzy speed.
Time flew by very quickly and as Preparty-time approached, we thought it was time to take the beauty nap. Because without that, the weekend becomes a real killer as our normal day- and night schedule is thoroughly disrupted during this event. After this needful rest and dinner afterwards, the girls went to the cosmetician that had settled in the hotel for those interested in having themselves made up, for a special look for the evening. The results were euh... unique. The only problem was that this had taken so much time that we had to hurry to catch the latest bus to bring us to the venue.
The Fetish Dinner Deluxe, a dinner for a select group in an industrial ambiance and with bizarre shows, preceded the Preparty. We hadn't chosen for this and only arrived at The Lokschuppen in Bottrop, when the long dining tables had already been put away and the dance floor had been restored. We met an international bunch of beautifully fetish dressed people. In the glass aisle of the long hall lots were already dancing. During the night shows were presented by Baroness Bijou and Pupett (pony show), Mrs. Lucrezia and Morrigan Hel (fire show). The music was danceable and the crowd exuberant. Only when the empty spots in the venue grew bigger and bigger, we decided to catch the bus back to the hotel. But still it wasn't time to sleep and we had a little after party in the hotel lobby.

After a short night, the only model in our group, Vendetta Li, awaited a busy day. Rehearsal and make-up during the day and performing in Brigitte More's fashion show that night. The rest of our little group spent the day sleeping or chatting with old and/or new friends. During that day the hotel became more and more crowdy with people that would only attend the Fetish Evolution Ball. The hotel breathed an exiting atmosphere.
For years the MudiaArt, a former steel factory from Krupp, had been the home base of the Fetish Evolution Ball. The atmosphere of this, sort of mysterious, undergroundish venue is inextricably bound up with the whole event for many. This year however, the organizers decided to change course. The possibility to have a location with better technical facilities at their disposal, made them move the main event from Monday to Sunday and from MudiaArt to Club Essence. How that would turn out to be, was the big question.
Club Essence existed from two large rooms of an old cinema. Because of the phased placed layout of the rooms, one had a good view at the stage with the catwalk so the shows were clearly visible for everybody. The interior was chique and modern and 80's music welcomed you while entering the premises. Not exactly what a die-hard fetishist would expect. From dark and industrial into light and modern and from underground to mainstream. We had to get used to the idea a little at the beginning.
As always the show was presented by Paul Nathan, a magician originally, this time accompanied by Bianca Beauchamp, a latex fetish icon from Canada. He still carries on in his entertaining way presenting fashion shows and amusing people. Backstage, it must have been very crowdy, with about 120 models to hit the catwalk. However, nothing to be sensed of that in the hall and the new creations of Ego Assassin, Hedony Design, Brigitte More, HMS Latex, AMF Corsets, Cyberesque, DeMask and Tollkirsche passed before us, almost impeccable.

After that the party really took off. Lots of dancing (much more than the years before), flirting and teasing. In the mean time the music suited us much better than at the beginning of the evening. We marked a VIP area, of which not everybody was enchanted by, but that looked very distinguished and well decorated (fetish models on large, white cushions!). And by the way, this was the first time in our party life that we saw a VIP area that really deserved that name.

The Dutch fetish delegacy was very well represented this evening. Nice cuddling and chatting with our party friends. From all three evenings, this one really took the cake when it came to fetish outfits. All this time spent and efforts made to do your thing and present yourself to others as beautifully as can be. We love it, it's great! We managed again to almost miss the last bus that evening. What's wrong with us? Don't we ever get enough or was the party closing early? But no sweat, the hotel was still there and waiting for a good after party with... Sekt. Of course, what else, it's a party!
The Fetish brunch on Easter Monday would last until 4pm, so time enough to sleep late and get into something suitable for the occasion. But despite all of this the whole bunch already found themselves downstairs in front of the restaurant at 1pm. This brunch on Sunday morning/afternoon might not be a party but it would almost deserve the name. Seeing such a colourful bunch of like-minded people is a party on its own. And when, sitting in Amsterdam on a terrace sipping your rosé, you might occasionally spot a celebrity, here you'll see one after another. Just like that! Our group had been completed by another 2 friends that visited the Ball only and now consisted of eight persons. And so, attending the brunch together and drinking a few Sekts (off course, what else?). 'The Family' was founded. On this occasion we expressed our strong wishes to often meet in order to enjoy lots of parties and people in each others company. The lunch was delicious and it really took some time before we finished it. This was partly because of the guy that served at our table and that could keep his eyes on anything but his work. It took him a good part of a quarter of an hour to put the cutlery for eight persons on the table. We seldom have seen so many waiters flocking around one table and we didn't see much constructive working either. We suppose the whole thing was quite impressive to them probably. It was really very amusing.
It all became too pleasant again very soon and as time went by the brunch came to an end and we decided to carry on our meeting in the hotel lounge. There we met some latex pool goers and the question 'shall we take a dive, or not' arose between us. While some where amusing themselves on the terrace in the sun, some where participating in a photo shoot, the most bizarre spectacle was to be seen at the pool. Dressed in a little or just lots of latex, several party goers from the evening before, floated in the water. Some of them completely unrecognizable because of the mask they were wearing, and one of them even wearing an inflatable catsuit, where his (or hers) arms were locked in. Oh well... everybody his/her own fetish...

As described before, the Ball wasn't held in the MudiaArt, but the Playparty was. And for this occasion the playroom had been beautifully decorated and lit. A small dance floor downstairs, that could be reached by passing a long aisle and some dark niches. A large stage where different shows were being performed, was situated in the playroom upstairs. With some playing equipment situated alongside. This one was a smaller party than the two before as not everybody was be able to stay for Easter Monday also. Sometimes other duties call, on these holidays.
A groovy underground atmosphere, much to our likings, dominated. There was something in the air. People were looking for something or maybe not. Hard SM also showed itself from it's beautiful side. A master, dressed in latex uniform, together with his sub, showed an amazing, intense and passionate SM play situated on a gynaecologist chair. She, all tied up, offering herself and shivering for his singletail. Personally we're also much impressed by the the love shown during the 'cooling down'. And we were also pleasantly surprised by the unexpected 'coming out' of a party girlfriend from Holland. Together with her husband she has been attending the scene for years already, but she never experienced an SM play until she met this generous dominant, who happened to be one of our party friends also.

Sitting in the brown leather seats on the lower floor, we caught up with new gossip and chatted with everybody that came along and joined us. At last we ended up at the upper floor and what almost happened the evenings before, now really became true...We missed the last bus to the hotel. But we didn't have to walk all the way home, one dear friend with a small van and another with an ample car took care of us and took us to our comfy hotel beds. NOT! Another after party had to be held of which we don't have to give another description. It's too much fun and nobody wants it to end.
And there's a lot of Sekt involved. Off course, what else?
But no matter how long we're trying to spin it out and have a little more of it next morning, this Fetish Evolution came to an end. We've had a marvellous weekend and we found it very special to really get into contact with other people in between parties. We deepened friendships, strengthened bonds and we're surely gonna be there next year.
