Felina Fetishdoll: a colourful nightbird

Looking at Felina means 'real eyecandy'. Inspired by different styles and completed to perfection by her own ideas, she succeeds in creating fascinating images over and over again. Paying attention to everything, she looks just smashing from top till toe including contact lenses in matching colours. Also very much worth while looking at are the photoshoots on her website. Not something to just scroll down quickly. All these colours, her extensive collection of accessories and the 'plot' of the picture's makes it really much fun looking at. That's why we were really happy to interview her and to find out how it all came to this and that she will NEVER visit a party without wearing a corset.
Truelove: We hadn't spotted you before, but suddenly...there you where! Haven't we paid enough attention?
Felina: I'm only visiting fetish parties for a year now, and it took some time before I had made my profile on ALTPARTY, so that's not very surprising. And besides that, I always look different, so sometimes it takes a while for people to recognize me.
Truelove: What can you tell us about the Felina before your coming out? How did you end up in “the scene” and how long are you (fetish)modelling now?
Felina: There wasn't a real “coming out” actually. Felina is my “alter ego” that arose after I've been visiting fetish parties. I noticed that I got I lot of enthusiastic comments on my outfits and this stimulated me to dress up even more detailed each time. Finally I found the place where I could indulge without being overdressed. Little by little I thought of more accessories to add to my outfits and I ended up with a set formula, on which I vary all the time. I had been to Wasteland once before, but at the beginning of 2008 a new relationship started with a guy that went to these parties a lot and than I really got the hang of it. I got to know lots of people in a very short time and many wanted to take my picture. I found out that I liked being photographed and in September I subscribed to several modelling sites. I happened to quickly bump into a very good photographer and in no time I had put together an extensive portfolio and besides that, I was also asked to pose for a party flyer by two party organizers.
Truelove: Your style is very much your own. A bit “doll-like” with lots of colours. Is this your particular choice and why do you like this so much? And, are you also attracted by any other styling?
Felina: Indeed, my doll-like style is exactly my own choice. Even when I still went to party as “myself” people thought me a little doll already. I liked specifying that idea, including the matching, coloured lenses that I wear with my outfit. Hence the name Felina Fetishdoll arose. My aim is to look completely different each party, using different colours is a great means to achieve this.
Actually I mix a lot of different styles and make this my own style. My outfits are based on fetish and gothic, but sometimes they tend to cybergothic and another time to manga, lolita, victorian, burlesque, pin-up etcetera. A great source of inspiration for me is the Japanese gothic-style “harajuku”. This is a Japanese quarter in Tokyo, where all sorts of different goths flock together. Some dressed even more outrageous than another. And they also use a lot of colours.
Truelove: You have a great website with stunning photos, original theme's in a wonderful setting. How do you realize this? Is this all a product of your own ideas and imagination or are you having support.
Felina: Thank you! I thought of almost all settings myself and most of the shoots have been done at my place. We often use my own furniture and I prefer to have all my stuff at hand. We than can endlessly vary and improvise with my enormous collection of hats, masks, shoes and other accessories. But...when the photographer comes up with another great location, who am I to say no?
Truelove: By whom would you like to be photographed one day and what attracts you in his or her style?
Felina: I'm a huge fan of Jeffrey Scott, whose work could be admired at Obscene's last two flyers. He really makes great impressions with highly imaginative, surrealistic settings and a brilliant exposure. And I would love to shoot with Erwin Olaf one day. I really adore his colourful, extremely detailed and to surrealism tending settings.
Truelove: Would you tell us which are your favourite parties and what are you wearing than?
Felina: My favourite party till now has been Siberia. And I also really like Dominatrix and Fetish Sins/Boudoir Bizarre. First of all Dominatrix and Siberia are held on a top location and I meet al lot of friends of mine out there. I prefer the people that are visiting these parties to those on big parties like Wasteland and B.I.T.C.H. On these smaller parties there's an intimate atmosphere and it's less risky for a girl to be pestered by pushy men.
Truelove: What, in your opinion, are the right ingredients for a good party?
Felina: Good music, several attractive rooms, a well arranged wardrobe, a strictly maintained dresscode and thus... nice party people!
Truelove: Do you have a fetish yourself?
Felina: Well, if I have one, it would be a corset-fetish. They can't be too much laced up for me and I refuse to go to a party without wearing one. I would very much like to start waist training one day. Then you wear a corset every day and night in order to create a more and more small waist. I think that would be really great!
Truelove: What does your “average” day looks like?
Felina: I'm a real nightbird, so I usually wake up rather late. Then I quietly get up and I spend the rest of the day studying or working or I go to college. Evenings I often go to a yoga-course or I work out. I work out for two hours, like three or four times a week. Besides my study of language and literature I'm on my way to become a yoga instructor. So I also try to spend another hour yoga-training or reading about it. At night I'm in my best shape so that's the right time to start studying. Fortunately I can do most things at home, so there's enough time left for my new boyfriend also.
Truelove: What's the trickiest situation you've been in?
Felina: Well, I'm a bit of a thrillseeker actually, so I tend to end up in them sometimes.
Just now I remember something I experienced on a holiday. I was climbing a glacier in the Swiss Alps. When I had almost reached the top, I suddenly found myself on a large boulder, dangerously dangling about. A large snow covered hill on the left of me and on the right it went down for hundreds, if not thousands of meters. I didn't dare to make one more move, but fortunately my buddy remained calm, put out his hand and saved me from the rock.
Truelove: Whom do you admire and what do you absolutely dislike?
Felina: I do admire Dita von Teese for her stylish, chic appearance and because of what she has attained in her life as a performer. I hate prejudice. Personally I always try to open my mind to other views and no to judge others right away. I think it's a shame that people judge about others just because they look different. I sometimes have to go to a photo shoot or a party by train wearing my fetish outfit already. At first I was a little hesitant, but actually up to now I only got nice, positive reactions.
Truelove: If you would give someone a good advice, what would that be?
Felina: Whatever you do, try to give it a positive swing. Even when things don't work out exactly the way you want. I found out that achieving something difficult, is much easier when you imagine that it's not so hard at all. So, don't underestimate the power of your mind.
Truelove: What are your future (fetish) plans?
Felina: First of all I'm going to perform as a model for Brigitte More at Fetish Evolution. Furthermore I'm surely continuing fotoshoots, because that's great fun! At the moment I try to do two shoots every month. And I probably will model for a fetish clothing-shop, I will be on the Dominatrix flyer and another party flyer also. I really think it's one big adventure. It has already brought me further than I thought it would and I'm really curious what more is in store for me. I'm also near to graduating for my bachelor and now orientating for a master. My yoga training will last another two years and I hope to start teaching myself after finishing it.
Truelove: What's your definition of “Truelove”?
Felina: A very intensive, unselfish love in which you love one another unconditionally and at the same time accepting the other for what he or she is.
